Step 1: Be AwareAfter choosing what you want to heal from, the first step is to be aware of your feelings.
Step 2: UnderstandAfter we have allowed ourselves to feel thoroughly, we need to try to understand what it is that we are feeling, but, more importantly, why.
Step 3: AcceptUnderstanding why someone did a certain thing or why we feel a certain way, doesn’t necessarily imply that we accept it. Let's work on that.
Step 4: ForgiveJust as Understanding doesn’t imply Acceptance (but it facilitates it), thus Acceptance doesn’t imply Forgiveness (but it facilitates it).
